Legal basis
The Competence Centre performs its tasks within clearly defined legal and institutional frameworks, ensuring the independence, legitimacy and coherence of its activities in the Swiss higher education and research system.
Basis
The tasks and activities of the Swiss Competence Centre for Scientific Integrity have the following legal basis :

Federal Act of 30 September 2011 on the Funding and Coordination of the Swiss Higher Education Sector (Higher Education Act, HEdA; SR 414.20) (art. 12, para. 3a, sec. 2 and art. 15, para. 1c).

Code of coduct for scientific integrity
Furthermore, the SCCSI fulfils its tasks on the basis of the Code of conduct for scientific integrity, published in 2021 by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), Innosuisse and swissuniversities (art. 2, para. 3 V-SQWI).
